Papers of James William (J. W.) Carter of Kemper County, Mississippi (circa 1860-1949), including letters from his son J. D. Carter during J. D.'s military service in France during World War I; broadsides and pamphlets concerning the Farmers' Alliance and the Democratic Party; newspapers; obituaries; photographs; invitations; list of state and county officials; miscellany. The collection also includes a ledger containing the minutes of the meetings of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of Scooba, Mississippi, 1923-1926.
