Description

The albumen print depicts the hanging of the Abraham Lincoln assassination conspirators, Mary Surratt, Lewis Paine, David Herold, and George Atzerodt. In the image, the prisoners can be seen standing on the scaffolding in the yard of the Old Arsenal Prison. The execution took place on 7 July 1865. The image is affixed to a paper mount.
