Description

The commemorative medal honors Abraham Lincoln's survey of Petersburg, Illinois, which took place in 1836. On the medal's obverse, a quarter-right profile portrait of Lincoln is depicted. On the reverse, a scene from the survey's starting point is pictured, which includes a hilly terrain, a land survey tool (much like a Jacob's staff), tree, and flag.
