This black and white illustration is of James L. Orr, an American diplomat and politician who served as the 22nd speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1857 to 1859. Orr is depicted wearing a dark suite, vest and tie with a white shirt. He is standing beside a short table with his hand resting on a thick book. Orr's last name is captioned beneath the illustration. The illustration is within volume three of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
