Description

This is a black and white illustration of "Outline Map of the First Battle of Bull Run". First Battle of Bull Run, also known as the Battle of Manassas, marked the first major land battle of the American Civil War. On July 21, 1861, Union and Confederate armies clashed near Manassas Junction, Virginia. The map points out the Confederate Base and the Union Base with markers for the placement of the two opposing sets of troupes. The title of the map is captioned beneath and a brief description of the map key is beneath the title. This illustration is from volume four of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
