This black and white illustration is of a battle scene including men in American Civil War military uniforms with swords and flags. Some of the men are in wagons, some are on horses, and many are on the ground fighting. "Battle of Fair Oaks. Gallant Charge of Gen Casey's Division to Save the Guns" is captioned beneath the illustration. The painter's name is on the bottom edges of the illustration. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
