Description
This black and white illustration is of John M. Schofield, an American soldier who held major commands during the American Civil War. Schofield is depicted with a long beard that covers the front of a dark, double-breasted military uniform. The uniform has shoulder boards and a high black collar. "General John M. Schofield" is captioned beneath the illustration. This illustration is in volume six of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
