Description
This black and white illustration is of James B. McPherson, a career United States Army officer who served as a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. McPherson is depicted in a dark, double-breasted miliary uniform with star studded shoulder boards and a high collar. The photographer and engraver is identified along the bottom curved edges of the illustration. McPherson's signature is depicted below the illustration with his name captioned beneath it. This illustration is from volume seven, of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
