Description
This black and white illustration depicts Abraham Lincoln seated with a book in his lap while his son, Thomas "Tad" Lincoln stands beside him. Both appear to be studying the book. Abraham is depicted wearing a dark suit, vest and tie with a white shirt and is wearing eyeglasses. Tad Lincoln is depicted in a dark coat. The two are identified as "President Lincoln and His Son 'Tad'' in a caption beneath the illustration. The illustration is in volume eight of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
