Description
This black and white illustration is of Alexander P. Stewart, a career United States Army officer, college professor, and a general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. Stewart is depicted as wearing a dark military uniform with star studded collar tabs. The etcher is identified along the bottom edge of the illustration and Stewart's signature is depicted below. The illustration is in volume eight of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
