Frank and Virginia Williams
This black and white illustration is of General James Longstreet, one of the foremost Confederate generals of the American Civil War and the principal subordinate to General Robert E. Lee, who called him his "Old War Horse". Longstreet is depicted wearing a dark, double-breasted military uniform with a high collar adorned with collar tabs. Longstreet's name is captioned beneath the illustration. The illustration is in volume eight of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
