Frank and Virginia Williams
This black and white illustration is of General J. E. B. (James Ewell Brown) Stuart, a United States Army officer from Virginia who became a Confederate States Army general during the American Civil War. Stuart is depicted wearing a dark, double-breasted military uniform with an open jacket, dark gloves, and holding the handle of his sword. The background of the illustration is black. Stuart's name is depicted beneath the illustration. The illustration is in volume eight of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
