Frank and Virginia Williams
This black and white illustration is of General John A. Logan, an American soldier and politician who served in the Mexican–American War and was a general in the Union Army in the American Civil War. Logan is depicted as seated with one hand resting on his hip and the other is resting on the armrest of a chair and wearing a dark, double-breasted military uniform with star-studded shoulder boards and a patterned neck-tie. Logan's name is captioned beneath the illustration. The illustration is from volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
