Description
This is an illustration of Owen Lovejoy, an American lawyer, Congregational minister, abolitionist, and Republican congressman from Illinois. Lovejoy is depicted as wearing a light colored suit and vest with a dark tie. "Capse" is penciled into the sleeve of his jacket. The illustration is within a vertical box border. The caption beneath the illustration reads "Owen Lovejoy". The illustration appears in volume one of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
