This black and white illustration is a collage of important Union figures of the Civil War including General Ulysses S. Grant (top), President Abraham Lincoln (center), General Philp Sheridan (bottom left), and General William t. Sherman (bottom right.) The illustration of the men is set against a battle scene in the top and center and a war room scene in the bottom. The image of an eagle and flags is above General Grant's image. The men's names are labeled at the bottom of their individual images. The publisher, H. H. Lloyd and Co., is named along the bottom of the page. The illustration is from volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
