Description

This black and white illustration depicts Andrew Jackson, an American lawyer, general, and statesman who served as the 7th president of the United States from 1829 to 1837, seated in a chair with a table beside him. Jackson is wearing a dark suit, vest and tie with a white shirt and his right hand is partially tucked inside his vest. A chair and curtain is depicted to the right behind Jackson. Jackson's signature is depicted beneath the illustration and "Likeness from a Daguerreotype taken from life" is captioned at the bottom edge of the page. The illustration is within volume two of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
