Description
This black and white illustration is of General John Bell Hood, a Confederate general during the American Civil War whose impetuosity led to high losses among his troops as he moved up in rank. Hood is depicted wearing a gray, double-breasted military uniform with star-studded collar tabs. Hood's name is captioned beneath the illustration. The illustration is from volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
