Description
This black and white illustration is of J. J. Crittenden, an American statesman and politician from the U.S. state of Kentucky. Crittenden is depicted as standing in front of a dark drape with one hand tucked inside his vest and one hand holding something. Crittenden is wearing a dark suit, vest, tie and shirt. His signature is beneath the illustration as well as the caption "From the original painting by Chappel in the possession of the publishers." The illustration is within volume two of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
