Biography

Margarita was the daughter of Prince Ferdinand of Savoy and Princess Elizabeth of Saxony. She married Umberto I and became Queen Consort from 1878-1900. The royal couple had one son, Victor Emmanuel III who would succeed his father to the Italian throne from 1900-1946. Mrs. Grant commented in her memoirs that the queen was “lovely and fair”.
