Two pages of original court documents from the State v. Connell case dating 1860. The case was heard in the State of Mississippi Lowndes County Circuit Court.
The State of Mississippi, Lowndes County, charged William Connell with unlawfully trading with slaves in 1860. Specifically, he is accused of selling goods and commodoties to an enslaved person without the consent in writing of the master, owner, overseer, or employer of said enslaved person.
