Description

This sepia toned picture postcard features a large naval cruiser with four funnels/stacks in the center out on open water. The description in a text box in the upper right of the card reads "South Dakota Speed 22.24 knots, Displacement 13,680 Tons, Length 502 Feet, Horsepower 28,543 Armament: 4-8 inch, 14-6 inch Under 4 in.-22, 2-18 in. Torpedo Tubes. Complement: 41 Officers, 837 Men. Cost $4,377,000" The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides publisher information as well as indication for correspondence, address, and postage stamp placement. "Battleship Series No. 1" is in the lower left corner of the card.
