Description

This black and white picture postcard features a white naval battleship in the open water. A United States flag flies from the stern while a Unites States Navy flag flies from the bow. The words "U. S. S. Prairie" are handwritten in the bottom center of the photo and the title "Greetings from the U. S. S. 'Prairie'" is along the bottom of the card. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides indication for correspondence and address placement. A green one cent stamp is in the upper right corner and the card is postmarked New Haven, Connecticut August 8, 1908. The card is inscribed and is addressed to Mrs. J Thurston James in Middletown, New York.
