Description
These enlistment documents for the National Guard of the United States and of the State of Mississippi include the Enlistment and Descriptive card and the Oath of Enlistment. The Enlistment and Descriptive card States that Leighton W. Ray has joined the First Regiment, Company K and was enrolled on June 23, 1916 at Kosciusko, Mississippi and provides his age, height, complexion, eye color, and hair color. The card also provides information on where he was born, his occupation, where he enrolled and his current residence, and his marital status. The oath of enlistment includes L. W. Ray's signature and the signature of his father, E. L. Ray, though the oath is not signed by an enrollment officer.
