Description

This postcard commemorates the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary Mississippi's designation as a United States Territory. An illustration of a blue eagle above red and white stripes is on the left side of the card. The illustration of a scroll is over the red and white stripes and the text within reads "150th Anniversary of the Mississippi Territory creeded by act of Congress, April 7, 1798. A three cent 1798 Mississippi Territory postage stamp is in the upper right corner of the card and the postmark, dated April 7, 1948 in Natchez, Mississippi, also declares "first day of issue" for the postage stamp.
