Description

In this handwritten letter, dated June 19, 1884, Leon Hays writes to his mother, Sophia Boyd Andrews Hays to let her know that he is recovering from "the flux" (dysentery) and describes his treatment and how common the disease had become a the asylum. The paper is torn in several places.
