Description

In this handwritten letter, dated April 14, 1923, Clayton Webb writes from Texas to his sister, Annie "Nancy" Webb Ray in Kosciusko, Mississippi to tell her that the rain finally came and the creek rose enough to fish. He goes on to talk about her sons and their successes and how he would love to see them if they would come visit. He states that he is making enough to feed himself and his chickens but not enough for new clothes. He concludes the letter by discussing the "hooch drinkers" and his thoughts on law enforcement of bootlegging and drinking alcohol. An envelope addressed to Mrs. Annie Ray and postmarked Sylvester, Texas, April 15, 1923 is included.
