Abstract
This study emphasizes the importance of adult education students and the critical lack of knowledge about promoting their success on satellite campuses in rural and low socioeconomic areas. This study aims to investigate best practices in adult education at community colleges to maintain the number of students enrolled until their program or training is completed. The high School Equivalency Diploma options include the GED, HiSET, and Competency-Based High School Equivalency Option. The results indicate adult education students might be more successful if they received the support services needed, such as counseling, tutoring, time management, and goal setting. This literature review synthesized current research to determine the best practices that are effective in adult education and the theoretical frameworks that need to be utilized. Further research is needed to identify other factors that could strengthen the effectiveness of these best practices.
