Abstract

Soybean producers are often faced with challenges regarding stand loss situations that can be caused by many different things. Often, in a replant situation, producers must decide if it is best to keep the failed stand without replanting, keep the failed stand and replant at a lower rate, or terminate the failed stand and replant at a full rate. Therefore, the objectives of this research were to evaluate soybean yield potential following differing levels of simulated stand loss as well as to evaluate soybean yield potential following simulated stand loss with different levels of replant. Experiments were conducted in 2023 and 2024. Results indicate that when soybean stands are reduced to 123,741 plants per hectare, yield losses may be expected. Results indicate that when faced with a stand loss situation of this capacity, economically, it may be a better option to replant at a lower additional rate dependent upon what stage the crop is at during the times of loss.
