Description

Oral history; interview with Mr. Gaddis Hunt, April 3, 2012, Mitchell Memorial Library, Mississippi State University. Hunt first came to Mississippi State to begin his career as the program director of the Colvard Union in 1966, the year after he earned a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from MSU. Later, he received a Bachelor's degree in Management and a Master's in Counselor Education. He then served in the dual positions of the Director of Facilities Use and of Humphrey Coliseum, and then as the Director of Support Services and the Director of Physical Resources. In 1986, he received the MSU Alumni Association's Outstanding Service Award. In 1995 he began his role as Associate Vice President for Business Affairs, and in 2000 was named Interim Vice President for Business Affairs. He has also served as a member of the Executive Council. In 2006, the retiring Hunt was honored as the first-floor dining area of MSU's Colvard Student Union was named the Gaddis Hunt Commons. In this interview, Hunt relates his connection to the Lloyd-Ricks building, primarily through his aunt, Minnie Earle Gaddis, and the important role of the Extension Service.
