Oral history; interview with Dr. Clinton H. Graves, April 4, 2012, Mitchell Memorial Library, Mississippi State University. Dr. Graves, Professor Emeritus of Plant Pathology, was born in Ackerman, Mississippi, July 22, 1927. He received his Bachelor's degree with special honors from Mississippi State University School of Science in 1950. Before attending MSU, he served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. He received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin in 1954. In addition to researching the pot mum and pecan industries, Graves taught upper level undergraduate classes and labs at MSU. He was Associate Professor from 1963 to 1966, and full Professor and Plant Pathologist with the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station from 1966 to 1992, when he retired. During his tenure at the University, he was a member of many professional and honorary societies and served on a number of professional and departmental committees. In this interview, he discusses the history of the Department of Plant Pathology and its early faculty, and memories of the Department's time in the Lloyd-Ricks Building until its move into Dorman Hall in 1967.
