Dawson, Noble E., -1916.
This fifty-four page bound pamphlet, titled "Proceedings on the occasion of the banquet to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of General U.S. Grant, at Delmonico's, Friday, April 27th, 1888 half-past seven p. m., as reported by Nobel E. Dawson," includes the documentation of the formation of the committee known as "The Grant Birthday Association of New York". Also included are menus, seating arrangements, membership information, and a detailed description of the event including the speeches given. The cover of the book is dark red and has some damage on the spine and edges. Several member signatures are written in pencil on the blank pages prior to the title page. A copy of the address given by James F. Wilson at the Grant Memorial Services a Fairfield, Iowa, on August 8, 1885 is included as loose pages with the pamphlet. The memorial speech is torn along the edges.
