Order of Inventory and Appraisement of the estate of James Cathcart, deceased, including one unnamed mixed-race boy.

Transcription

State of Mississippi State of Mississippi Territory, Adams County.} By the Orphan’s Court of said County. These are to authorize and empower you, whose names are here under written, to make an Inventory and Appraisement of the Goods and Chattels of James Cathcart late of said County, deceased, wheresoever the same shall be found within the Territory a-foresaid, which shall be shown unto you by William Cathcart administrator; being first sworn to make a true and perfect Inventory and appraisement thereof, and to be returned under your hands to the Register clerk of said Court, within three months from this date. Witness Samuel Brooks Elijah Smith, Esquire, Chief Justice of said Court, the third day of April Anno Domini one thousand eight hundred and eighteen. Woodson Wren. Clerk Register. To Thomas Munce Abram Scranton, Jim and Jacob Fry} Appraisers. Memorandum. This 16th day of May 1818 Personally appeared before me the undersigned, one of the Justices assigned to keep the Peace for the County of Adams Thomas M-? Abram? S-? & Jacob Fry Appraisers appointed to Appraise the Goods and Chattels of James Cathcart deceased : who being duly sworn, made oath that they would make a just and true Appraisement of all and singular the Goods and Chattels (ready Money excepted) of the said James Cathcart deceased, as shall be produced by the administrator of the Estate of the said deceased; and that they would return the same, certified under their hands to the Regis-ter’s Clerks Office of the Orphan’s Court of Adams County, within the time prescribed by the Warrant of Appraisement to them directed by the said Court.
