This black and white illustration is of Elihu B. Washburne, who served as a congressman from Illinois before and during the American Civil War. Washburne is depicted as wearing a dark suit and tie with a white shirt and his name is captioned beneath. "Wyatt Eaton, 1888" is along the bottom edge of the illustration. The illustration is within volume three of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
