Frank and Virginia Williams
This black and white illustration depicts a group of six Union generals. The generals are identified as (from left to right) O. O. Howard, W. B. Hazen, John A. Logan (seated), W. T. Sherman (seated), Jeff C. Davis, and W. H. Slocum (seated). The generals are all depicted wearing their dark, double-breasted military uniforms with star-studded shoulder boards. Logan and Davis are depicted with their hands tucked inside their coats, Sherman is depicted with his arms crossed, and all but Sherman are facing to the right. Their names are captioned beneath the illustration. The illustration is from volume nine of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
