The newsletter, "On the Beam" volume 24, written by Howard Coleman, is a private newsletter written to update Coleman's friends and family. Dated November 20, 1944, this issue of the newsletter updates the activities and whereabouts for officers stationed in France, Germany, England, and on various Navy ships. The newsletter goes on to list men reported missing, wounded, or killed in action. Other items shared are sports updates, updates from the local paper, and what he's seen around town. The news he shares is taken from letters he's received, news broadcasts, newspapers, and his interactions with people he speaks to around town.
