Gale Carr Archival Papers

Papers documenting the work of James G. “Gale” Carr from his time as the dairy production manager at the Shelby County Penal Farm in Shelby County, TN, including correspondence between Carr and his wife, Florence, and information about the herd and the dairy program at the Penal Farm. Carr was born in Missouri in 1896, served in World War I, and had a long career as a dairyman, including co-founding the Carr-Myers Dairy in Tupelo with W. L. Wood in 1949, which was sold to Barber Milk in 1956.
