Description

The Civil War-era carte de visite features a caricature portrait of Horace Greeley, editor of the New York Tribune. In the cartoon, Greeley is pictured holding the hand of a newspaper. The newspaper has been drawn with a face and appendages and appears to be in blackface. Broken chains are pictured below the newspaper's hands. Its cardboard mount appears to be 20th century product.
