Description

The obverse design features the right-side profile of France Parkman, an American author who penned The Oregon Trail: Sketches of Prairie and Rocky-Mountain Life and France and England in North America. On the medal's reverse, several figures are pictured in a staggered formation. From left to right, the following are pictured: a covered wagon, a female pioneer, a male religious leader, a male Native American, a Frenchman [?], a British colonial man, and a ship. A large open book is pictured in the scene's background.
