Description

The medal's obverse design depicts a bust image of Eli Whitney, and American inventor best known for inventing the cotton gin. The reverse design feature a man, presumably Whitney, standing behind a cotton gin holding papers, two African-American people (male and female) operate the gin. Another figure can be seen in the scene's background.
