Description
The medal's obverse features a design after Lloyd Ostendorf's original artwork that depicts Lincoln accepting the Republican nomination for President of the United States. On the reverse, a short excerpt from his letter of acceptance to George Ashmun, President of the 1860 Republican National Convention, appears. A laurel wreath borders the lower half of the medal. The medal is mounted in a leather slipcase album, which is Volume II of a two-volume set. (Volume I is a short work entitled Abraham Lincoln: An Autobiographical Narrative, written and edited by Ralph Geoffrey Newman.)
