The object includes a book illustration and accompanying text that have been removed from an unknown book (possibly a 19th century book). The illustration is an engraved portrait of John Adams Dix, Secretary of the Treasury, Governor of New York, and Union major general during the Civil War,and the text is a short biography of his life and career. Both are printed on white paper and black ink.
