Description

This object is a Civil War-era carte de visite featuring a caricature portrait of General Ambrose Burnside by Thomas Nast. The caricature depicts Burnside in his Union Army uniform and with a very large forehead. The CDV's cardboard mount, however, appears to be 20th century product.
