Description
The Civil-War era carte de visite features a photograph of a cartoon depicting Clement L. Vallandingham, an anti-war Democrat during the United States Civil War, as an angel of peace. In the cartoon, Vallandingham's face has been mounted to a demon-like body. A snake is pictured at the figure's feet with the word "COPPERHEAD" inscribed on its body. On the CDV's back, a blue two-cent Washington stamp is affixed.
