Description
The medal's obverse design depicts the left-side profile of Ulysses S. Grant, the commanding general of the United States Army during the American Civil War and eighteenth president of the United States. On the reverse, Grant stands in his military uniform with a sword drawn at his proper right side. His proper left hand sits at his hip. A line of soldiers stand behind him in the image's background.
