Description
The broadside was probably printed in the 19th century for an annual celebration of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. It is printed on off-white paper with black ink.

recto: The ANNUAL CELEBRATION of the Signing of the / EMANCIPATION / PROCLAMATION / Will be held MONDAY, SEPT. 22nd. / Under the auspices of the Sunday School Union representing the Colored Churches of the city. / Prominent speakers will speak on the occasion. / Music will be rendered by the "Lincoln Band." / Prizes given to the the oldest marries couple present, / also to the family with the greatest number of children present. / Come one come all and leave your cold dinner / at home. There will be a Grand Barbecued Dinner / ready for you, consisting of pork, mutton, beef and / fresh fish. Plenty of refreshments. / Come to have a good time and enjoy an Old / Fashioned Picnic with our mothers, fathers, children / and grandchildren. Don't stay away---this may be / your last chance. / Committee. / CAMP LINCOLN J.B. OSBY, Chairman.
