Description
This is a black and white illustration of J. C. Fremont, an American explorer, military officer, and politician. Fremont is depicted as standing amid some military paraphernalia while wearing a uniform that is double-breasted with a tasseled belt and shoulder boards. His right hand is resting on his hip and his left and is resting on a table beside him. Fremont's signature is depicted beneath the illustration and "Likeness from the latest photograph from life" is captioned beneath the signature. This illustration is from volume four of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
