This black and white illustration is of a battle scene wherein soldiers with cannons are firing on a group of ships out o the water. The illustration is captioned as "Bombardment & Capture of Forts Walker and Beauregard, Port Royal, S.C., Nov. 7, 1861. "Fort Walker, Vandalia, Susquehanna, Seminole, Wabash, Burnsville and Ft. Beauregard" is along the bottom edge of the illustration. The engraver is identified beneath the caption. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
