This black and white illustration is of a map of James River, Elizabeth River, Hampton Roads, Nansemond River, and Chesapeake Bay and various areas of Virginia and South Carolina. The map is captioned "Map of Hampton Roads and Vicinity." name of both a body of water in the United States that serves as a wide channel for the James, Nansemond and Elizabeth rivers between Old Point Comfort and Sewell's Point. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
