Description
This is a black and white illustration of Rear-Admiral Louis Malesherbes Goldsborough, a rear admiral in the United States Navy during the American Civil War. Goldsborough is depicted as being seated with one arm resting on a table beside him and the other hand resting on his thigh and wearing a dark military uniform with the coat open, a dark vest, white shirt, dark pants, and dark tie. Shoulder-boards and embroidered stripes adorn the coat. "Rear-Admiral Goldsborough" is captioned beneath the illustration. This illustration is from volume five of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
