Description
This black and white illustration is of Nathan Bedford Forrest, a prominent Confederate Army general during the American Civil War and the first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan from 1867 to 1869. Forrest is depicted as wearing a double-breasted uniform with an ornate collar. The background is lightly shaded and the illustration is within a thin lined frame. "General N. B. Forrest" is captioned beneath the illustration. This illustration is in volume six of Abraham Lincoln : A History by John G. Nicolay and John Hay.
